Mostly because hunting became less effective Especially before jumping into copper age, you want to be prepared, not just for raiders but more importantly you want your infrastructure to be working as steady as possible before you let your pop rise. Unless you are trying to get achievements to get all tech in 5 hours, dont rush it and take your time. If anything, I try to save tech points, by focusing on main "tech line" that is necessary to get to new eras, and to buy as much minor techs as possible from traders There is no game changing tech, "must have as fast as possible. Order of tech you choose does not really matter, it all about your preferences. Or you can send your people to hunt (you get new point for killing 1,5,10,50,100 of the same kind of animal - so the best way, try to kill 10 of each species) If you need a few tech points, you can always build something (you get point for everyting you build for the 1st time, but also for building 5 structures of same type – you can always destroy it afterwards). But as long as you are using tip 7.1 (high priority for fields) during harvest/planting time you can let it go higher, even close to 200% and you will be perfectly fine. workload,, basically most of the time you want to keep your workload (under key "7") around 90%, so your people have some time to take care of theirs needs.So no real motivation to save materials/space for more than one stone circle.
